ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस दुनिया में जन्म लेने से पहले एक आत्मा को सितारों के सटीक नक्षत्र की प्रतीक्षा करनी पड़ती है। एक व्यक्ति को किस प्रकार का जीवन मिलता है यह उसके “संचित कर्म” (पिछले जन्मों के संचित कर्म) पर निर्भर करता है। वैदिक ज्योतिष की विशिष्टता यह है कि यह अतीत के संचित कर्मों के प्रभावों को ध्यान में रखता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि वैदिक ज्योतिष में तैयार की गई दशा सिस्टम “अतीत में किसी के कर्म का खुलासा” है। पूर्व जन्मों के कर्म अभिलेखों के आधार पर दशा में कोई भी परिवर्तन अच्छे या बुरे परिणाम ला सकता है।
वैदिक ज्योतिष भी “रिनु-बंधन” (पिछले जीवन ऋण) में विश्वास करता है। इसका अर्थ है कि जो मित्र बनाता है, शत्रुता रखता है, और जो परिवार मिलता है वह पिछले जन्म के ऋणों पर निर्भर करता है। इंसान के जीवन में बिना वजह कोई नहीं आता। पिछले जन्म के कर्मों से लोग इस जन्म में एक-दूसरे से जुड़े हुए हैं। इसका अर्थ यह है कि यदि कोई व्यक्ति जीवन में बार-बार आ रहा है या यदि ईमानदार प्रयासों के बाद भी कुछ मुद्दों का समाधान नहीं हो रहा है, तो संभावना है कि ऐसे व्यक्ति या मुद्दे पिछले जन्मों के कर्म रिकॉर्ड से जुड़े हुए हैं।
यदि कोई किसी के साथ भाग्य, करियर, जीवन या भाग्य साझा करता है, तो संभावना है कि ऐसा संबंध पिछले ऋणों के कारण विकसित हो रहा है। कई बार ऐसा भी देखा जाता है कि किसी का दुर्भाग्य दूसरे के लिए सौभाग्य बन जाता है। ऐसी स्थितियां आपस में जुड़ी रह सकती हैं।

The uniqueness of Vedic astrology is that it takes into account the effects of accumulated deeds of the past. It is believed that the dasa system devised in Vedic astrology is the “unfolding of one’s karma in the past”. Any change in dasa can bring good or bad results depending on the karmic records of earlier lives.
Vedic Astrology also believes in “Rinanu- Bandhan” (past life debts). This means that the friend one makes, the enmity one keeps, and family which one gets depends upon past life debts. No one comes in a person’s life without any reason. People are interlinked with each other by the hidden hands of past karma. It means, if someone is coming repeatedly in life or if some issues are not getting resolved even after honest efforts, it is likely that such persons or issues are linked with the karmic records of past lives.
If one shares fortune, career, life or luck with someone, it is likely that such relationship is developing on account of past debts. It is also seen at times that bad fortune of someone becomes good fortune for the other. Such situations may remain interlinked.
